You are cordially invited to Darja Povša's online lecture, which will be the first in a mini-cycle titled The Nude in Depictive Art. This time we will talk about painting.

Today, the nude in fine art is understood as an independent motif genre, depicting a half-naked or naked human body. Depictions of the naked human body have been known since the Paleolithic era. In various forms and with different content, it accompanies us to this day. However, it only gained its place as an independent genre in the 19th century.

The lecture can be viewed at Youtube channel of the University of the Third Age of Celje or on Facebook University.

The title painting is a work by Matej Sternen (period 1900-1918), held by the National Gallery in Ljubljana.

The next lecture, dedicated to the nude in sculpture, will be held on April 26th.
