A little over a hundred years ago, Celje resident Alma Karlin set out on an eight-year journey around the world, which she summarized in the ethnological, anthropological and travelogue work A Lonely Journey. This year, we got to know Alma Karlin in a different light, as her autobiographical story A Distant Woman was published for the first time, in which she talks about her relationship with anti-Nazi fugitive Hans Joachim Bonsack, whom she selflessly hosted in her Roman house in Celje in 1937–1938. The unusual visitor also marked the fates of other Celje residents.
Alma will be discussed at the lapidarium on Savinjska nabrežje by editor Aleš Čeh and Jerneja Jezernik, a translator and one of the greatest experts on Alma Karlin, author of Alma's biography, which recently won an award in Germany.
The event will take place at 5 p.m., but will be canceled in case of rain.
