We invite you to a conversation about the subtle nuances of life, the search for meaning and peace, and reconciliation with everything experienced, intertwined with the stories of the main character of the novel Peace Smugglers, by Carmen L. Oven. The guest of the evening will be Carmen L. Oven, who will encourage us to reflect in the style of the voice of the main character, a reader of stories to the dying in a hospice. The event will be hosted by volunteer Miha Zimšek.

You are kindly invited to join us on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, starting at 6 p.m., in the Study Reading Room of the Celje Central Library (Muzejski trg 1a).

Hospickafe is an informal social event where, in the safe atmosphere of the twenty-year tradition of the Slovenian Hospice Society, which cares for the dying and their relatives, we talk about transience. We share experiences of accompanying the seriously ill, we testify about death, we talk about the process of grieving the loss of a loved one. All this with respect and vulnerability, along with stories of sadness, pain and fear, disappointments, feelings of guilt and forgiveness. We help ourselves and others to domesticate the topic of death, we try to de-taboo it.
