You are invited to a LITERARY-MUSIC EVENING WITH MAJDA PETAN and PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK SANA (Dedicated to Mom)

The novel Snaha is the debut novel by Majda Petan, a sociologist and singer of Slovenian pop music from Celje. The book is dedicated to the mother as a symbol of courage, sacrifice and a warm home. It can be read as a manual of life, in which the author also reveals painful emotions, feelings of guilt and a story about manipulative, destructive relationships, and can be an inspiration for courage, solving difficult life situations and an opportunity for readers to approach the recognition and resolution of unhealthy interpersonal relationships.

Majda Petan has dedicated her life to working with young people and adults, as well as to music. Even as a child, she showed great talent for singing, which was noticed by music educators and predicted a bright future for her as a singer.

She first appeared in public more recognizable form when she won the Melodies of the Sea and Sun festival in 1980 in a duet with Otto Pestner. Later, she was taken by black spiritual music (her husband Marjan Petan is the bassist in the New Swing Quartet). She recorded a program of black spiritual music with gospel and spirituals, and her solo musical journey began.

Writing has also taken an important place in her life, which, in the function of public confession, can be a cathartic cleansing for many who share similar life experiences. In her performances, she tries to bring people closer to her spiritually and ensure that the audience leaves the event satisfied. At the presentation, she will address you with a sincere conversation about the story in the book and her beloved singing.

The conversation with the author of the book will be led by Ms. Jožica Osolnik.

In the Vojnik Library.
