Karel Čapek (1890-1938) was one of the most influential Czech writers of the 20th century. He is known for being the first to use the word robot. He wrote science fiction long before science fiction developed into an independent genre, and today he is recognized primarily as a pioneer of the classical European direction of science fiction, which is more devoted to sociological themes than to the development of technology.

The second exhibition, entitled Czech Literature through the Eyes of Slovenian Translators, presents the lives and work of prominent Slovenian translators who have been active in their fields since the mid-20th century. The exhibition focuses in particular on the legacy of Zdenka Škerlj-Jerman (1933-2010), Jaroslav Skrušný (1947), Nives Vidrih (1958) and Tatjana Jamnik (1976), all of whom are winners of Slovenia's highest literary translation award, the Anton Sovra Award.

The exhibitions will be on view until the end of April.

We look forward to meeting you.
