Writer, travel writer, translator, amateur ethnologist, collector of folk goods, polyglot... Alma M. Karlin left behind an incredible life.
On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 11 am, we are opening an exhibition of world traveler and Celje native Alma M. Karlin, who not only traveled the world, but also almost completely traversed Slovenia, carefully recording her adventures along the way in her travel diaries.
You are invited to follow Alma's footsteps and discover the corners of our beautiful Slovenia at the exhibition at Krekov Square in Celje.

The authors of the exhibition are Dr. Alenka Hren Medved, Dr. Marija Počivavšek and Jerneja Jezernik.
Alma M. Karlin, one of the world's greatest travelers, not only traveled the entire world between 1919 and 1927, but as an enthusiastic hiker and a great lover and connoisseur of nature, she also walked almost all of Slovenia in the 1930s. She also wandered a little in the immediate vicinity of Slovenia and went on multi-day hikes to neighboring Austria (Salzkammenrgut) and Croatia (Zagorje and Opatija).
The cultural program will feature the chamber ensemble of the Celje Music School.
The exhibition will be on view from May 10 to August 31, 2023.
