Traveler Sonja Salobir Lindsay got the idea for the trip when she read the book Labyrinth by Kate Moss years ago. We will travel to Occitania – a land where rich history, Mediterranean charm and the magnificent nature of the Pyrenees, which represent the natural border between France and Spain, intertwine, and where we will travel by train. We will learn about the history of this region among the ruins of medieval castles and small villages and take a boat trip along the Canal du Midi. We will visit Carcassonne – a true jewel of medieval architecture and one of the best-preserved fortified cities in Europe. In addition to its historical and natural beauty, Occitania also impresses with its cuisine. In Carcassonne, we will taste cassoulet – a rich stew made of beans, sausages and duck meat. The wine-growing regions of Languedoc produce excellent wines that carry the warmth of the south of France. Occitania is a region of contrasts – from sunny vineyards to snowy mountain peaks, from bustling cities to quiet villages. Carcassonne reminds us of a rich past, while the Pyrenees connect us with nature and inner peace. Anyone who visits Occitania leaves with the feeling of having found a piece of the world where time stands still – and where history still breathes between the ancient stones and the mountain winds.
