You are invited to the presentation of the scientific monograph Dr. Alenka Hren Medved with the title Coal, railway, thermal baths and beer. The book is about the modernization and demographic development of Laško in the long 19th century. Coal deposits, good transport connections and developed industry played a major role in the development of Laško and the lives of its inhabitants in the 19th and 20th centuries.

In the lecture, the author will present the demographic history of Laško and its surrounding area. Using data and stories revealed in civil registry records and other historical sources, you will learn about the life patterns and stories of the inhabitants of Lower Styria in the 19th century.
