Are you curious about how a doll is made? Would you like to make one yourself and join us in the Quarantine Dolls of Hope project?

In the past school year, as part of the University's programs for the third period of life, we established the first group of makers of UNICEF rag dolls in the Celje area. We joined the UNICEF Slovenia project and successfully completed it in April, when we put the first 46 dolls up for adoption. The ladies who make the dolls are continuing their work this school year as well.

Meanwhile, life has presented us with a situation that most living generations don't remember. If we believe that fear is the greatest evil of humanity, then at this moment, we need courage and optimism more than anything else.

Information from various sources is pulling us deeper and deeper into feelings of anxiety and helplessness, so we need something encouraging, something that can make sense of the helpless waiting we are experiencing these days.

We invite you to join the project of making Rag Dolls (a UNICEF project) to fill this sad period in the most meaningful way possible. Creativity will connect us and encourage positive thinking.

Let's create smiling dolls that will bring smiles to all who adopt them, to the children who will be gifted with them, and to those who will be provided with emergency vaccinations through these actions. And the makers will also be smiling as they pour their skills, imagination, and this uncertain time into an act of kindness.

At the end of the project, we will prepare a sales exhibition, and the funds will be entirely allocated to the UNICEF Vaccination project.

If you also do some spring cleaning during quarantine, you will definitely come across clothes or other fabric products that you would otherwise throw away.
Browse around and you'll see that it is.

What do we need to make a doll?

doll body: cotton solid color fabric (white, pink, brown for different skin tones of children around the world),
lining,
filler (cotton wool, finely ground felt)
doll's hair: wool or raffia
doll's dress: colorful fabric, lace, embroidery, ribbons
doll's face: multi-colored pens or fabric paints
Of course, everything should be seasoned with goodwill.
