The Local History Department of the Central Library of Celje has devoted considerable attention to the postcard collection since its establishment 40 years ago. Today, the collection comprises more than 9,000 postcards from Celje and the wider region. The most valuable part of the collection is represented by lithographs from the so-called golden age of postcards, among which, in addition to postcards from Celje, are particularly valuable postcards of larger places in the Celje region (Laško, Žalec, Velenje, Mozirje, ...), surrounding health resorts (Rogaška Slatina, Dobrna, Rimske Toplice) and railway junctions, such as Zidani Most. In addition to locally colored postcards, the postcard collection also includes postcards of other Slovenian places and European and world cities.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Study Library and the 40th anniversary of the Department of Local History, we have prepared an exhibition of Old Postcards of Celje at the Celje Central Library, which you can see at Krekov Square from July 4 to August 31.
