Following the paths of the Mayans, smugglers and soap operas: Guatemala and Mexico

As part of the University for the Third Age, we invite you to a lecture entitled "Following the Paths of the Mayans, Smugglers, and Telenovelas: Guatemala and Mexico." Ditka Fidler, professor of Spanish, will share her impressions of a six-month journey that included volunteer work, discovering a different reality, meeting familiar and unfamiliar people with open hearts and arms, a colorful culture, magnificent remains of ancient Mayan architecture, and also some harrowing moments of the cruel Latin American present.
