About Vladimir Levstik

For many years now, we have been regularly inviting you to interesting meetings and lectures in the Levstik Hall of the Celje Central Library, and on Monday, January 18th, at 5:30 p.m., we will get to know VLADIMIR LEVSTIK a little better. Vladimir Levstik was born 130 years ago (January 18th, 1886) in Šmihel nad Mozirjem. After his death (December 23rd, 1957), the Celje Central Library took over the legacy of the poet, writer and translator.
In the lecture, librarian Srečko MAČEK will present his diverse life and work in the field of literary creation using original documents and literary works from his legacy.
Vladimir Levstik is considered one of the most prolific and best Slovenian translators, as in addition to his own literary creations, he has translated 62 books by 37 authors. He translated mainly from Russian, English, American and French literature.
