As part of Veronika's Poetry Week, which we are preparing for the first time this year in collaboration with the Celje House of Culture, we will organize four events before the big evening, which we call Veronika's Poetry Night.
The third event will take place on August 23rd at 6 pm in the Zvezda Cafe in Celje. We will host two distinguished guests. With us will be a poet and writer Esad Babacic, who has so far published twenty-five books of poetry, prose and essays in Slovenian, as well as translations of his books into foreign languages. For his book of essays Veš, mašina, svoj dolg he was awarded the Rožančev Prize, which is also an award of national importance. He received the international award in Vienna for his poem Danube Hörbiger Prize, it was also (for the Arrivals, Departures collection) nominated for the Jenko Award (2013), awarded by the Slovenian Writers' Association. In 2014, he received Velenjica-Chalice of Immortality Literary Award for the top ten-year poetic work, which significantly marks the artistic literature of the 21st century.
Esad will be joined by poet and musician Andraž Polič, who will accompany him musically as he reads his poetry.
Veronika's evening of poetry and music, with the announcement of the recipient of the Veronika Award and the presentation of the poetry and little Veronika gold medal, will be held on August 27 at Celje Castle. Music by Bilbi & Band, and the keynote speaker will be Dušan Šarotar.
You are welcome.
