Kelebek is a Turkish girl. She lives in Germany with her parents and brother, where she has friends and attends school. Despite the fact that her family has integrated into German society and the surrounding area, she maintains Turkish traditions. When she crosses the threshold of adolescence, Kelebek must wear a headscarf. She is not allowed to go to a disco with her peers in the evening. When she falls in love, however, Turkish culture shows its true face. It robs her of her freedom, penetrates deeply into her personality and destroys her relationships with her relatives forever.
