Publisher about the book
Polish poet and essayist, 1996 Nobel Prize laureate Wisława Szymborska (1923–2012) made her most significant contribution to contemporary Polish poetry by reviving reflective, thoughtful poetry. Her seemingly light-hearted poems, imbued with skepticism, irony, and humor, ask fundamental questions about life and the world, repeatedly illuminating them from unexpected, often non-anthropomorphic perspectives.
Her poems have been translated into all European languages, Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese and Japanese. The selection Seeds of Miracles (1997) and the collection Trenutek (2005) have been published in Slovenian, and the present selection includes all of the poet's collections.
