Publisher about the book:
Beirut awaits the publication of the report written by German investigator Detlev Mehlis at the end of 2005 on the investigation into the assassination of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. It seems as if this text will miraculously dispel the fog and anxiety that suffocate Lebanon, where the living and the dead live side by side like shadows, and people who, since the beginning of the civil war in 1975, have been unable and unable to do anything but wait for someone to leave – themselves, or someone else, from the country or to the next world. The main character has spent his entire adult life in war or in the memory of war and in anticipation of its resumption. Two of his sisters live abroad, and the third, Josephine, was kidnapped during the war on the dividing line between the eastern and western parts of the city. His Beirut awaits what salvation Mehlis' report will bring.
