Nik is a typical outcast: he is a good student, he is interested in many things, but he is small, shy, and on top of everything he likes to keep to himself. He is picked on by a group of four class nerds who harass him daily. One day, the professor orders Nik to help his classmate Mila, the most beautiful girl in the class and one of the "powerful four", learn math. Over the weeks of studying together, Mila completely changes her attitude towards her "weird" classmate, which triggers an avalanche of unforeseen events. But what to do when everyone looks away? Violence does not disappear on its own. And Nik knows this very well, so at some point he stands up for himself. But things go too far and he finds himself facing the greatest test of his life, in which he will learn what true courage is.
At the very beginning of the novel, we find ourselves in a police interrogation, which immediately draws us into the fast-paced story. Although the novel focuses on the violence that Nik faces, the background that the author draws raises extremely important questions: Why does everyone look away? Why do teachers not take action, even though they suspect what is happening? How to stand up to injustice? A moving and topical novel about peer violence is an excellent starting point for reflection and discussion about the fact that we should not remain silent about atrocities, but rather warn about them and solve them.
