Andriy Bachinsky is a well-known name in contemporary young adult literature in Ukraine. He is an electrical engineer by profession, but since the publication of his first book in the detective series for young adults in 2011, he has devoted himself primarily to writing. The main character of his young adult novel has not only earned him the title of “Ukrainian Oliver Twist”, but also the prestigious national award of the BBC Book of the Year in 2015, of course, in the category dedicated to young adult literature.
In a car accident, a young musician from a musical family, Sergij, loses not only his parents and sister, but also his hearing. He must learn a new way of communicating with his peers in an institution for deaf children and overcome disappointment and complete despair, lest this heavy loss completely kill his will to live.
