Ten-year-old Julija moves from the city to the countryside with her sister Ela and her father. Her mother, who has problems with alcohol addiction, cannot handle all the pressures that family life and life in general bring. Her father becomes close to another woman who lives in the countryside with her two sons, and Julija calls her 'aunt'. Together they become a new, slightly different family. But that's not all. Life in the countryside has its advantages and disadvantages, but above all, it is different from life in the city. Julija has to get used to many changes, new friends, new rules, a new environment, and then there are words, those clever things that can sometimes be quite mischievous.
It is a first-person narrative, the main narrator is Julija, so the reader experiences the story through the eyes of a child and encounters explanations of many "difficult" words, such as divorce, addiction, online harassment, children with special needs, etc., as well as slightly less difficult words, such as credit card, waxing, etc. Julija helps readers to learn about these words through cute and clearly understandable explanations, which are imaginatively intertwined in the chapters and their individual events. Readers are also introduced to Mehkohrušnik, a special notebook where various useful things, and sometimes even some nonsense, are written down. With the help of Julija and her story, the author spontaneously leads readers to reflect on the meaning and use of words and on important life questions.
