The book The Tie Gene is a collection of Kregar's columns, which have been published in the daily newspaper Večer over the past five years. Through the columns, Tone Kregar, a historian and musician, further reveals himself as a socially aware man who expresses his sensitive side both through the environment in which he grew up and beyond. In the texts, the reader immediately perceives Kregar's refined sensitivity to detail. In his unforgiving socially critical writings, the author also gives space to a romantic image of the world, which cries out for justice and a human dimension, while at the same time uncompromisingly rejects elites and enrichment at the expense of the common man.
