The novel is a moving story about growing up and mourning. At the instigation of the school psychologist Meri, ninth-grader Lucija begins to keep a diary. In it, she writes down her feelings about the loss of her younger sister. She cannot and will not break free from her listlessness, the pain of remembering her sister paralyzes her. In the diary, she describes her everyday life at school and her family, from whom she seems to be increasingly alienated due to the loss. But eventually, things start to turn for the better. Lucija manages to collect the necessary points to enroll in an art high school, falls in love, and something else happens: a refugee girl, Suri, comes to live with her family. Lucija initially rejects her, not wanting anyone to take Katja's place, but she slowly becomes attached to her. Lucija's life regains meaning, and the pain gradually fades away.
