We have already met the groundbreaking Czech writer Petra Soukupova with her novel The Sea. This time, she once again weaves a story around a network of relationships spanning several generations. In her characteristic narrative style, she presents a seemingly everyday situation. Three sisters get into the car one winter day and head to their parents' house to celebrate their father's birthday. Blanka with her two daughters, a baby and a dog, Olina with her son and an iPad, Kristýna with the cat from the previous evening. In the car full of them, their life stories, childhood memories, unfulfilled dreams and frustrations also travel with them, so that the atmosphere becomes more electrifying with every kilometer. The three sisters live completely different lives. When they arrive home, they are not only greeted by an idyllic snowy landscape, but they also have to face other painful changes and past stories that the snow cannot (cannot) hide. A great novel about family relationships that is so painfully direct that it's hard to put it down before the end...
