An autobiography of three generations in three books. From an early age, Sally feels that she is different from other children, and at the same time she realizes that the way of life of her family, in which five children are cared for by a loving mother and grandmother, is also very different from the customs of the surrounding area. It is only at the age of fifteen that Sally realizes that her lineage does not come from India, as her mother and grandmother explained to her, but that her ancestors are Aboriginal. Sally decides to seek the truth. In the search for her roots, she finally finds the life story of her grandmother and mother. Sally Morgan, one of Australia's most renowned Aboriginal artists and writers, received the Australian Human Rights and Equality Commission Award for her autobiography Embracing the Roots and the Order of Australia Book Prize in 1990.
