Exhibition Way of Being

Exhibition Way of being seeks to present the life and work of Vitomil Zupan, one of the greatest Slovenian writers of the 20th century. The author of the exhibition, Ifigenija Simonović, relied on the legacy kept by the manuscript department of the National and University Library in Ljubljana. It is a vast material that could only be presented in fragments.

Vitomil Zupan was creative in every way. This exhibition is intended to highlight this characteristic of his. In addition to an outline of his biography, bibliography, writing as a way of life, writing novels, plays, poetry, essays, novels and stories for children, and scripts for film, radio and television, the exhibition will also show his artistic creation. A significant part of the exhibition is dedicated to the writer-prisoner. In prison between 1948 and 1954, Zupan wrote twenty-five poetry collections, two novels for children and most of his theoretical writings.

The exhibition in honor of the centenary of the birth of Vitomil Zupan is an exhibition about vitality, perseverance, straightforwardness, hope, about a "way of being" that is a constant "rebellion against death."

The exhibition will be on display until November 7th at the fiction department. (in collaboration with the manuscript department of the National and University Library in Ljubljana)
