The library at Mišek Knjižek is a house of fairy tales and stories, songs and pranks, fairy tale and real heroes, a house of small and big knowledge!
MOUSE BOOK lives in the library. He helps preschoolers and elementary school children, their parents, and anyone who visits him choose books, magazines, CDs, and DVDs. He offers stories, songs, educational picture books, school materials, and lots of educational and interesting answers.

Fairytale hours
You can visit Miška Knjižka simply to choose books, cartoons or audio fairy tales. But there are many other interesting things happening at Miška Knjižka, which we present below. Fairy tale hours take place every Wednesday from October to May. The fairy tale is accompanied by various creative events.
Fairytale suitcases
At the Library at Mišek Knjižku, we have prepared suitcases with very special luggage for you. The suitcases contain book luggage, with which you will create a fairy tale hour or a fairy tale afternoon or a fairy tale day at home. You will play with the books and other “things” that we have put in the suitcase, read them or even create something with them. The suitcases will bring you fairy tale experiences home.
You can borrow and return the suitcase in the children's department, at the Library at the Mouse Book. The suitcase cannot be returned to the book machine or to the material return box, so please return it during the library's open hours.

Theater, puppet and dance performances
Dance, theater and puppet shows are scheduled once a week. The program includes puppet theaters of independent cultural workers and dance and theater groups from kindergartens or schools.
Book puzzle
Every month we prepare a book puzzle, the answer to which you can find in the book you have read.
My choice is reading.
My Choice is Reading is a summer reading activity with a prize draw that runs from June to September. It is intended for children aged 5 to 12.
Holidays are full of adventures, and these adventures can also be readable!
On My Choice is Reading leaflets There are 25 activities available for children to choose from. Everyone chooses 15 and uses these activities to read 5 books of their choice. Then, each reader fills out the tab on the booklet and returns it to the Library at Mišku Knjižku or one of the local libraries (Štore, Dobrna, Vojnik or Šmartno) by September 15th.
Summer is a time for fun! And for play! It's also a time for reading! Reading is a game and fun!
Reading can be included among other holiday activities and thus ensure good reading fitness even during the summer. A closing event will be held on September 20th, where prize winners will be drawn from all participants and everyone will have fun at the party.
Coloring pages from our travels
Purpose of the project Coloring pages from our travels is to encourage reading in families with primary school children. With family travelogues, we want to attract schoolchildren and their parents to travel, get to know countries and their specialties with the Rojc family. We take them on a journey with books and cuisine, as well as numerous interesting decorations, clothes, small works of art and experiences that Anuška, Lara and Peter brought back from their travels.
Meetings with cultural creators
At the Mišek Knjižek library, we also like to host authors, illustrators, and other cultural creators. We chat with them about their lives, work, and achievements...
I grow with the book
National project Growing up with books It promotes a reading culture among young people. It motivates primary and secondary school students to read and encourages them to visit public libraries.
The project involves the Public Book Agency of the Republic of Slovenia, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, the Association of Public Libraries, the National Institute of Education of the Republic of Slovenia, the Association of School Librarians of Slovenia, the Association of Slovenian Writers, primary schools, secondary schools, Pionirska - the center for youth literature and librarianship at the City Library of Ljubljana, and public libraries.
The goals of the Growing with Books project are:
- promoting the accessibility of high-quality and original Slovenian youth fiction,
- promotion of top domestic creators of youth fiction,
- promoting motivation for reading among schoolchildren and their visits to public libraries,
- Motivating publishers to include contemporary Slovenian writers in publishing programs for young people and increasing the share of published original Slovenian youth fiction.
Also in school year 2025/2026 (from September 10, 2025 onwards) the project is being implemented for 7th grade students and 1st year students.
The project is co-financed by PUBLIC BOOK AGENCY OF THE REPUBLIC OF SLOVENIA.
