We kindly invite you to an online travel lecture Zoran Furman, which will take us virtually to South Korea and Taiwan this time.

He wrote about his experience as follows:

“I started my journey in the Korean capital Seoul. The rich culture and influence of the West that you can feel at every step. The journey took me to the east coast to the city of Sokcho, where just a stone's throw from the city is the beautiful Seoraksan National Park. The day I spent among valleys, streams and interesting rock formations will forever remain in my memory. From Sokcho, I hitchhiked north to the DMZ, where I looked north towards North Korea with fear from afar. As an Olympic enthusiast, I visited Pyeongchang, more precisely the city of Hoenggye, where the 2018 Winter Olympics were held.

I learned about the rich culture and history of South Korea in the traditional village of Hahoe. Next came Gyeongju, where I walked among the tombs left behind by past dynasties. Then there was Busan, the second largest city in Korea, known for its many fish markets.

Next came the return to Seoul, where I walked through the Olympic Park, dedicated to the 1988 Summer Olympics.

Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, surprised me with a completely different culture and energy than I felt in South Korea. A rich culture, a kind of mixture between Chinese and Japanese. These are two countries that have greatly influenced or still influence, especially China, the history of this island country. I walked around the city and felt that “real” Asia. Both in the way of life and in the street vibe. The famous Taipei 101 is definitely a skyscraper that is worth seeing if you are in the city. In the north there are also interesting waterfalls, which I visited on a rainy day. In the east of the island I ventured into the famous Gorge, which offers numerous narrow valleys and rock formations – part of an interesting game of nature.

In the western part of Taiwan, it was nice to visit Sun Moon Lake before heading to the most beautiful park in Taiwan, called Alishan. It is famous for its ancient trees, which are thousands of years old and more. I finished my trip to Taiwan in the city of Kaohsiung in the south, from where I flew back to Seoul. This is where my trip ended.”
