The Sixth Seal is a historical novel about the persecution of Christians in ancient Ptuj during Diocletian's attempt to eradicate Christianity in the Roman Empire. It subtly connects to the thematic thread from Cestnik's first novel The Sun of PetovionThe events between 284 and 304 are followed through the eyes of eight prominent characters, including persecutors such as Diocletian. Their fates are connected by Victorinus of Ptuj, who is considered the first Latin interpreter of the Bible and even the first writer from present-day Slovenian territory.
