The Book Flight project was intended to raise awareness about reading culture, reading literacy, and family literacy. Young volunteers and adults involved in the project brought intergenerational knowledge and awareness of the importance of literacy to children and adolescents.

During the implementation of the project, the target group was those children and adolescents who are socially vulnerable, have the right to additional assistance, and children and young immigrants for whom the language of the country in which they live is not their mother tongue. The project was fully intended for the entire society, and in particular for the inclusion of all those who find it more difficult to integrate into society. The project was fully funded by the European Union through the European Solidarity Corps.

The project published the manual Polet s knjigo (Flight with a Book), which contains 28 activities with high-quality Slovenian and foreign picture books to encourage reading in the family. The manual can also be helpful in formal education in the preschool and early school period.

The project will be presented by Kristjan Veber, who also led it under the auspices of the Celje Youth Center.

Some of the activities within the project and the preparation of the manual also took place in our library, so you are welcome to join us at the presentation.
