Other places, other times: life in Tokyo

What is it like to live in one of the largest cities in the world? In this travelogue lecture, we will travel to distant Japan, a country that fascinated Celje's cosmopolitan and writer Alma M. Karlin a century ago. This time, we will not rush from temple to temple, but will stop in Tokyo and take a peek into everyday life there.

Through personal experience, Japanologist and Doctor of Ethnology Klemen Senica will introduce us to life and work in Japan during the recent pandemic and reveal lesser-known aspects of living in the Japanese metropolis. We will learn what rules apply in a Japanese kindergarten, how to bake bread without a built-in oven, and why ramen is always the right choice for lunch.
