In order to preserve the memory of our ancestors, I started researching my family tree. I started on the Croatian side of the Sotla River, as most of my ancestors were from the parish of Sv. Petar in Prišlin. During my childhood, the decision was made in the village of Brezno to build Vonarsko Lake, and for this purpose, 42 families had to be moved from the Croatian and Slovenian sides of the Sotla River and 210 hectares of land had to be purchased. The entire area of the reservoir was cleared, new roads were built on both sides of the future lake, and in 1975, when the Vonarsko Lake dam was completed, the first families began looking for a new home. At that time, my parents bought a house in Korpulje, and this has been our home for almost 50 years.
