Presentation of Urban Vehovar's book: For Dignity: A Portrait of Slovenia, Its Divisions and What Brings Us Together
What is Slovenia like, what divides us, and what still unites us despite all our differences? We will reflect on these questions at the presentation of the book For Dignity: Against Hate and Evil by sociologist Dr. Urban Vehovar. In the book, the author offers his perspective on Slovenian history and contemporary society, its political and social divisions, and the causes of deep-rooted divisions. He pays special attention to human dignity, respect for fellow human beings, and the necessity of overcoming hatred and intolerance. While critically reflecting on Slovenia's past and present, he also highlights people who, with their warmth and goodwill, maintain hope for a more cohesive society.
Dr. Urban Vehovar is a sociologist who has lectured at Slovenian universities, researched social and political processes, and collaborated with the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption. His view of Slovenia is shaped by many years of research, public engagement, and experience living abroad.
You are invited to a conversation about Slovenia, its division and common values, and why respect for human dignity is the foundation of every society in which we want to live.
