Migrant issues in Slovenia
26. 11. 2015 at 6:00 PM
Slovenian tension between emotions and reason: historical, political, humanitarian, security, cultural and economic dimensions of migration and refugees
With the event, we want to establish a constructive debate on the migrant and refugee issue, which has been filling various types of Slovenian media for months and is causing a great division in society. Since it is an extremely complex problem, knowledge of its various dimensions is key to understanding it. Thus, with relevant speakers, we will try to answer what led to such an intense migrant and refugee wave, how the EU and Slovenia responded to it, what is the actual situation on the ground, what are the security risks and what will be the cultural and economic consequences of these flows, etc.
Speakers:
Gregor Preac, journalist and expert on the situation in the Middle East
Ela Meh, anthropologist and freedom of movement activist
Maja Ahac, president of the humanitarian association ADRA Slovenia
Jernej Agrež, volunteer coordinator in Dobova
Moderator: Janja Mikulan Kildi, young researcher at FUDŠ
Academic evening of the Faculty of Applied Social Studies (FUS) in collaboration with the Celje Central Library.
