Concert of a marimba soloist

After participating in the opening of the exhibition about Herman Potočnik, he will marimbist soloist Aristel Škrbić also performed at the Miško Knjižko cafe.
He began his musical journey at the age of ten, learning percussion at the Krško Music School with Prof. Mitja Kustelj. Two years later, he became fascinated with the marimba and began to focus on this instrument. He began to receive additional education from excellent musicians such as Boško Petrovič and Nebojša Jovan Živković.
In 2008, at the age of fourteen, he became one of the youngest students in the undergraduate percussion program at the Anton Brückner University in Linz, Austria. He was taught percussion by Prof. Josep Gumpinger and marimba by Prof. Bogdan Bacanu. In the following years, in addition to his regular studies, he also studied with excellent percussionists and marimba players such as Peter Sadlo, Mamoko Kamiya and Katarzyna Mycka. He has recorded two CDs of his own music; the CD Marimba was recorded in 2009 and the CD of relaxation music Marimba in the Sky a year later.
In 2010, he moved to the UK, where he attended the international Brockwood Park School in the south of England. There, he was taught music by Prof. Prach Boondischulachok and Prof. Jenna Sherry. During this time, he began learning marimba with the world-renowned English percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie. He continued his studies at The Open University, where he is completing his undergraduate degree in humanities with an emphasis on music. In 2012, he moved to London to begin his career as a marimba soloist in this city, one of the world's music capitals. His last notable performances were in October 2013 at the TEDx event at the London Museum and a solo concert on the occasion of the Slovenian Cultural Day on February 8, 2014 at MacLarenn Hall.
In February 2014, he auditioned for a postgraduate marimba course at one of London's two most prestigious music academies, The Royal College of Music (RCM). He successfully passed the audition among many candidates from all over the world and began his master's degree in marimba in September 2014. This is an extraordinary opportunity, as The Royal College of Music is one of the few academies in the world that offers postgraduate marimba studies and is also an institution where some of the most famous musical performers and composers of the 20th century were trained. He is also the recipient of an RCM scholarship.
