You are invited to the presentation of David Stegu's book Why not?
The author wrote about the book as follows:
“I am pleased to be able to offer you a book that was created after many experiences from different parts of the world. The book Why Not? is a combination of travel impressions and thoughts, observations and insights that I was able to gain from it. We will embark on a journey all the way from the United States of America, where we will spend some time with Indians and explore the Wild West, to a country where the highest mountains in the world are located, and extremely strong people live under them, we will undertake a unique climb to a Kyrgyz seven-thousander and, last but not least, we will enrich all of this with numerous rich experiences in our beautiful country. The decision to share all these experiences with you in this book stems from the belief that they hide many treasures that can help us on our journey in life and also truly make it meaningful and make it beautiful, adventurous and fulfilling. It is especially valuable to me that I can do this in these times, when we are facing additional challenges, and I hope that the content of this book will speak to you and thus offer some additional bridge, for those times when challenges seem insurmountable.”
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
David Stegu is an English teacher. His calling to be a teacher began during his studies at the Škofja Loka Gymnasium, was strengthened by his participation in the local Pentecostal oratory, and then became a reality when he enrolled in a single-subject pedagogical study program in English and American Studies at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, where he formally confirmed his master's thesis The American Perception of Westward Expansion in Contemporary Literature in November 2017 with honors. During his studies, he participated in an exchange program at the University of Central Oklahoma, where he successfully completed all the obligations set out in the exchange program, and also used as much time as possible to travel. Since then, his spirit of travel has regularly accompanied him and led him on many adventures, which are described in the book Why Not?. He has built his professional career by working at summer schools in England and teaching at Slovenian schools (by far the longest in Idrija) and running his own language school, Angloka, where he also tries to present language learning as a kind of journey. An important goal and desire is to encourage young people to face the challenges that have been, are and are yet to come in the best possible way.
Event within Universities for the Third Age will be in the Study Reading Room.
