Mateja Kišek Vovk is an expert in the field of forestry (dendrology and forest genetics). She combines her extensive knowledge of trees with an extraordinary passion for nature. She grew up on a farm in Močilno near Radečah, where the thickest Slovenian tree, the Gasper chestnut, has its deep roots. Under its mighty canopy, a genuine admiration and respect for trees sprouted in her as a child. Her inseparable connection with nature led her on a research path, where she combined scientific precision with a passion for discovering the secrets of the tree world. She is employed as a professor of professional forestry subjects and assistant principal at the Maribor Secondary School of Woodworking and Forestry.
