Maja Plaz,  Lecture Let's talk openly about violence against women and children in the family - with more knowledge to less violence, Association SOS telephone for women and children – victims of violence

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the SOS Telephone Association, a presentation of a manual for working with women and children who have experienced violence, which will be published on this occasion, will be held in libraries across Slovenia. Renowned experts from the fields of health, social services, police, education, judiciary, prosecution, non-governmental organizations and others participated in the preparation of the manual. The lecture will aim to open the door to words about violence, which occurs in many families, but is well hidden behind four walls and is still not talked about enough.
Why should you attend? So that if someone close to you or even you yourself ever find yourself in a violent relationship, you will know how to react correctly and you will be familiar with the many mechanisms that keep victims in such relationships. So that you will understand why victims cannot leave and why everyone involved and not involved often remains silent about violence. So that you can make your children aware of the inadmissibility of violence and give them a good guide to a life without violence. So that you will be part of a story that has been going on for 25 years and in which the employees of the SOS Telephone Association are committed to timely recognition and quick and effective assistance to victims of violence. So that you will be equipped with information that can come in handy at any time in your life. We will share with you our many years of experience working with victims and, through examples, help you understand the behavior of those who experience violence.

The lecture will be given by Maja Plaz, a long-time collaborator and president of the SOS Telefon Association, author of articles and co-author of books on violence against women and children, coordinator of a self-help group for women who have experienced violence, and a lecturer and workshop leader on the prevention of violence against women and children. Maja Plaz usually includes practical examples from her many years of encounters with victims of violence in her lectures, thus trying to approach a difficult and unpleasant topic in a way that encourages reflection on it and the responsibility of each of us to contribute to a society without violence.

You are welcome!
