Marija and Andrej Štremfelj embraced at the top of the world as the first married couple in the history of Himalayan ascents. On October 7, 1990, they walked hand in hand to the 8,848-meter-high roof of the world. Marija was the first Slovenian, the third European, and the 13th woman in the world to achieve this feat. Andrej had already stood there eleven years earlier, on May 13, 1979. Together with Nejc Zaplotnik, they were the first Slovenians to conquer Sagarmatha, the highest mountain in the world.

They are also the authors of the books: Embrace on Top of the World, Crystals of Happiness, and The Power of the Night is in the Light of the Stars.
