In the evening at the Miško Knjižko Café Marijan Pušavec will talk to Anjo Radaljac, a literary and theater critic and writer, who will present her debut novel Polka from the sandbanks.

Anja Radaljac is a literary and theatre critic who regularly writes for Delo, Poglede, Radio Ars and Literatura. She also works as an organiser of literary events at Trubar's House of Literature and as an editor of the same institution's website. As a playwright, she likes to tackle a theatre project here and there, and she is an enthusiastic prose writer (her debut novel Polka s peščenih banki was published by LUD Literatura in April 2014), who naively believes (although she rarely proclaims this) that literature can have an extremely important social function. She loves cats; but really, not just the black ones from hipster posters. She has three of her own and sometimes a stray cat (in care).

The novel Polka s peščenih banki (A Sandbank Polka) on the one hand plays with a typical love story, referring primarily to the novel Madame Bovary, and on the other hand, through a grotesque, fantasy narrative, it reveals the psychopathologies of Slovenian everyday life. The novel refers to Slovenian and foreign literary production and questions the writing process. The work received a positive response in the media; Igor Bratož, a member of the Kresnik Award jury, wrote in Delo: “A beautiful book of ridicule. A name that needs to be remembered.”

Requiem in F minor meaningfully represents the artistic creation of a character from the novel Polka s peščenih banki, Feliks S. Murr. He manages to realize his potential both in the theater with his (only his own) own perception of performative art; in poetry as a passionate lover of rhyme, romantic paradigms and elation; and he will present himself to us primarily as a musician – just right, just right singer-songwriter, just right genre-dispersed, just right alternative and just right artistic.
