August Demšar is a writer who dedicates himself exclusively to writing detective stories. He has published 13 of them so far, which represents the most extensive cycle of this type of literature in Slovenia. Among his works, the trilogy stands out Fountains, which includes novels Church (2020), Tycoon (2022) and Estonia (2024). His latest novel was published this year Fountain of life. Demšar's stories are set in a realistic environment, mainly in the city of Maribor and modern times, although the events occasionally spread elsewhere. His detective work is designed as a series: the fates of regular characters develop throughout the entire cycle, while individual stories are independent and complete wholes in each book. He has been nominated several times for the award firefly, and last year he received Glazer's Charter, an award from the Municipality of Maribor. RTV Slovenia has so far filmed three seasons of the series Primeri inšpektorja Vrenko.
