Ditka and Feri Lainšček

On this cultural holiday, we invite you to a literary and musical performance by singer Ditka and poet Feri Lainšček entitled Don't Be Like Others.
The poetry collection Don't Be Like Others is intended for those who "know how to be something special sometimes". It is a love lyric divided into the cycles Her Double and His Double, written in classical poetic forms. However, the feeling of love outgrows the most intimate partnership and nostalgically attaches itself to the landscape of the Pannonian plain and evokes in the sounds of gypsy music. These are poems of encounters, daydreams, departures and memories that tell the story of love in all its manifestations, while retaining a touch of wandering bohemianism.
Few books today achieve high circulation, especially poetry books. The poetry collection Ne bodi kot drugi has been reprinted for the fifth time. It was first printed in 2007, and a year later a soundtrack album was released - Lainšček's poems are interpreted by actors Polona Juh and Vlado Novak. In 2012, the book exceeded the total circulation of 10,000 copies.
The author of the poetry collection Ne bodi kot drugi Feri Lainšček (1959) is certainly one of the most popular contemporary Slovenian authors. The writer, poet, playwright, screenwriter and author of numerous musical lyrics also writes for children and young people. He has received numerous awards for his works, including the Kresnik Award twice, for the novels Namestome koga roža cveti (Prešernova družba, 1991) and Muriša (Študentska založba, 2006), and the Prešeren Fund Award for the novel Ki jo je megla prinesla (Prešernova družba, 1993). Six feature films have been made based on his works, including Petelinji zajtraj, the most watched domestic film in independent Slovenia. The novel Strah za metulje v nevihti represents the final part of a trilogy, which also consists of the novels Ločil bom peno od valov (Študentska založba, 2003) and Muriša. He has been collaborating with singer Ditko for a good year.
Ditka is a new face and a real refreshment on the Slovenian music scene. She comes from Carinthia, more precisely from Prevalje, and has been involved in music since she was a child. She recorded her first CD and started performing at the age of eleven. In 2005, she won the largest children's festival Fens in Izola with her song Album s slikami. In 2010, her song So fine was included on the Val 202 album Val010 - we have good music. In the same year, she also performed at the closing concert of the Open Microphone in the Šiška cinema in Ljubljana. Last year, her song Dreamer enjoyed great success at the UNITED KINGDOM SONGWRITING CONTEST in England, where she made it to the finals in the singer-songwriter category out of 5,000 songs submitted from around the world.
Since the summer of 2012, Ditka and her band have performed very successfully with full-length solo concerts in Maribor, Ljubljana, Koper, Laško, Ravne and Slovenj Gradec, Kranjska Gora, at the Pivo in cvetje festival and the Lent festival in Mraibor.
In the fall of 2012, her single "Something's in the Air" (with lyrics by Tone Pavček) was released and received excellent reviews.
Her single "Ne bodi kot drugi" (Don't Be Like Others) based on the lyrics by Feri Lainšček, which was presented to the public last spring, received an even better response. Last year, she began actively collaborating with poet and writer Feri Lainšček, with whom she presented literary and musical evenings in numerous places across Slovenia. This will be the second performance in Celje, and Feri Lainšček will be a guest at the Celje Central Library for the first time.
The event will also be the introduction to the fourth season of the reading badge for adults, Reading to the Stars.
