The Srečališče association wrote on their website that they want to be “a space for authentic encounters with oneself and others”Their activities are aimed at establishing balance on the physical, emotional and mental levels, connecting, collaborating and creating new opportunities for individuals and the community.
Since March 2014, the project Organization and Implementation of Psychosocial Care for Oncology Patients and Long-Term Ill Children and Young People in the Celje Region has been implemented, which is financially supported by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism in 90 %. The project activities are intended for oncology patients and their relatives, long-term ill children and long-term ill young people and their parents. The partners in the project are Celje General Hospital, the Faculty of Psychotherapeutic Sciences of Sigmund Freud University in Ljubljana, and Diakonhjemmet University College (Department of Social Work and Family Studies) from Oslo, Norway.
The purpose of the project is to make it easier for people with cancer and children and young people who have been ill for a long time to cope with the disease. There are no free groups in the Celje area where psychotherapeutic support would be available to such individuals and their relatives. Every disease takes its toll, and the longer the treatment lasts, the more hope, energy, strength and opportunities for quality socializing can be lost. The groups, which began operating in May 2014, offer a safe space for patients and their relatives, where it is possible to express one's feelings (from fear to hope), experiences and intentions in the treatment process among people with a similar experience. We are increasingly aware that mood plays a major role in recovery. If we want to strengthen ourselves for the next step ahead, in addition to medical treatment, we also need emotional support, acceptance and understanding from fellow human beings.
