You are cordially invited to a discussion meeting entitled Running for life, where we will talk about the issue of retired dogs, and at the same time we will learn about the association Greyhound World of Slovenia.
The association said about their activity, which is not yet well known in Slovenia:
“Thousands of Greyhounds are bred each year for the racing industry in Ireland, Great Britain, Australia, the United States, etc. The selection of those who potentially meet the standards of competition is harsh and unforgiving.
Typically, perhaps a third of dogs meet the requirements for further training. Most Great Greyhounds end their careers between the ages of eighteen months and three years. There have been some improvements in the greyhound racing industry in recent years, but it still remains an uphill battle against one of the most powerful industries,
which is based on the exploitation of helpless creatures. In countries where the greyhound racing industry is present (especially in Ireland), a large percentage of people do not accept greyhounds as pleasant and loving companions, but rather as mere labor.

We are not talking about cultures where dogs as such are not accepted as companions under any circumstances, but rather about civilizations in which many people live together with their four-legged "pets" - for example, with a golden retriever or a curly on the sofa and a greyhound in a cage in the yard."
After the conversation, you will be able to get to know the six dedicated greyhounds better and perhaps even be inspired to welcome another fast member into your family.

“Greyhounds are fast. So fast that no prey escapes them, and this is what leads them to almost certain death due to human greed. Only a handful of them manage to escape and find loving homes with the help of good people.”
