The TRANSVERZALA was proposed as a circular mountain trail in 1951, but due to political and other reasons, only half of it was completed. The author of this novel determined the course of the entire route in 2019 and walked it together with his children and friends. The distinctively unifying trail now, with its 1,200 kilometers in length and a staggering 70 kilometers of total ascent, finally encompasses all the diverse faces of the Slovenian mountain world, from wilderness to alpine.

JAKOB J. KENDA, a doctor of literary sciences, is the author or editor of numerous publications, from anthologies to readings. He writes about literature and film for many newspapers and magazines, and lectures. He is often called upon when a cultural institution needs a crisis manager. He is best known to the public for his translations, especially Harry Potter, and more recently as the author of the award-winning bestseller, the travel novel Appalachian Trail.

The travel novel TRANSVERSAL is a kind of sequel to the award-winning bestseller APPALAŠKA POT. This time, Jakob J. Kenda uses his picturesque, juicy language and a spice of humorous inserts to depict a path that winds through his own country. The story thus offers an insight into the past, but above all the present, of the author's homeland, with an interwoven garland of moments and themes that are constantly connected by the more intimate threads of love in its most diverse forms.
