Spring in Japanese gardens

We invite you to a lecture by a landscape architect Alenka Kocuvan Polutnik, MSc., experts in traditional Japanese gardens, which are, each in their own way, exceptional works of art, and their arrangement is governed by strict ancient rules. Our guest this time arranged the first Japanese garden in Slovenia in 2008 within the Mozirski gaj, and this time she will talk about the magical days when these masterpieces of cooperation between man and nature are visited by spring. The presentation includes images of Japanese gardens in Kyoto and the surrounding area during the cherry blossom season.
The design of Japanese gardens reflects the changing seasons. Each garden usually has one evergreen plant and one plant that highlights a particular season. And then the plant is the center of attention of the garden. Cherry blossom is an unofficial Japanese national holiday, hanami, which literally means viewing cherry blossoms. The cherry blossom festival has been celebrated for centuries and holds an important place in Japanese culture.
