Two imperial capitals: Moscow and Saint Petersburg

You are cordially invited to a lecture by Štefan Rehar entitled Two Imperial Capitals: Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
Each in its own way shapes the history of Russia; they constantly compete in order and importance on the world map. Saint Petersburg, the former imperial capital of Russia, represents a bridge between Europe and Asia and an important cultural and economic center.

We will compare the biggest attractions of this most European city with the biggest attractions of Moscow, today's capital, which boasts numerous museums, mighty squares and churches. We will also get to know lesser-known attractions and those that we unfortunately can no longer visit. As in all major cities, here too, one can perceive a great gap between glitz and misery, between poverty and wealth. The differences are perhaps a little less noticeable in the surrounding area, where we will see a few more pearls of Russian cultural heritage.
