Viki Grošelj was the youngest member of the Makalu expedition in 1975 and had the most beautiful experience possible with the highest mountain in the world. As a complete Himalayan greenhorn, who was in the Himalayas for the first time at the time, he was given the opportunity to reach the summit and also return safely to the valley. He experienced and survived everything that a young, enthusiastic climber could have wished for at the time. Makalu left a lasting impression on him.

When writing the book, he wanted to relive everything that happened on the way down the mountain, on its south face, and on its precipitous summit that extraordinary autumn of 1975. He also wanted to relive memories of the time after Makalu. What happened ten, twenty, thirty, forty, and fifty years later.
