Christmas Day marked 60 years since the death of Vladimir Levstik, the writer and translator after whom our event hall was named. Monday, January 15th, we will at 5:30 p.m. illuminated his memory with two renowned lecturers.

VLADIMIR LEVSTIK: his school paths and detours is the title of the contribution in which Dr. Anton SHEPETAVC, principal of the First Gymnasium in Celje, presented the writer's early years and the beginnings of his education. The evening will continue with Dr. Florence GACOIN-MARKS, assistant professor of French literature at the Faculty of Arts, with a book presentation TO PARIS AND BACK: Vladimir Levstik and French Literature. The discussion first explores how the young Levstik encountered the French language and culture and adopted them, followed by a look at his immersion in translating French and Francophone prose, and the final chapter is dedicated to the influence of the French novel on Levstik's prose. An interesting cultural and educational evening promises to be had.
