December 8, 1927 - Mohor's company moved from Prevalje to Celje.
The years after the First World War were not kind to the Mohor Society, as the oldest Slovenian literary institution, founded in 1851. The German nationalist atmosphere forced it to move from Klagenfurt to Prevalje (July 1919), which after the demarcation belonged to the Kingdom of SHS. However, the move was only temporary, as the new headquarters of the Society of St. Mohor were too far from major Slovenian centers. Although some councilors wanted the headquarters of the Society of St. Mohor to remain in Carinthia, where they were given all the conditions for operation, the pressure to move was increasing. Thus, in 1924, the board of the Society of St. Mohor decided to move the printing house to a larger city: to Celje, to Maribor or to Ljubljana. After viewing many offered buildings, the final decision was made at a board meeting in June 1926 to move the printing house to Celje, where they bought the house of the Celje merchant and café owner Kos in Prešernova Street. Immediately after the purchase, they applied to the Celje district government for a printing concession, but the Celje city council rejected it, mainly for political reasons. The rather unfavourable Yugoslav legislation on cooperatives also helped them make their decision. Only after a year of mediation and the legal separation of the printing house and the bookstore was the company Mohorjeva tiskarna in Celje registered in March 1927, a limited liability company, with a printing and bookstore concession.
The premises were then adapted, and a printing house and bookbindery were built in the yard according to plans by Jože Plečnik and Anton Suhadolc. The move began in the autumn of 1927, and was completed on 8 December, when the last of the 38 wagons was brought in. The move was supervised throughout by the then principal Josip Zeichen, the manager Ivan Kolenc and Mirko Mikeln.
