The Faces of Slovenian Regions portal is an online biographical lexicon of famous personalities from Slovenian regions and Slovenians abroad and around the world, managed by the Kranj City Library in cooperation with central regional libraries. It combines biographies published in previous regional lexicons. It includes biographies of personalities who were born in a particular region or abroad, lived and/or studied there, and, above all, who significantly marked their environment with their work in any field.
The territory of Slovenia is divided into 10 provinces or provincial lexicons, notable Slovenians living abroad and abroad are united in the lexicon Slovenci v zamejstvu i po svet. The borders of individual provinces are determined by the areas of operation of individual regional libraries, which also add content to the portal. In accordance with the content design of the united biographical lexicon, other libraries and institutions from individual regions also contribute content.
The online biographical lexicon is created on an ongoing basis and is supplemented with information about famous figures from history and the present every day, so its content is never final.
