Askur lives with his mother in a block of flats in the western part of the Icelandic city of Reykjavik. Everyone thinks that only very ordinary people live there – but Askur knows that this is not true. There is a werewolf, a pig in a pig's ass, a silverfish and an angel, to name a few. Angel in the Neighborhood is a stunning and original story in which a boy's fantasies about life create countless images, because his imagination has no limits.

Iceland is a land that is mystical in our imagination, permeated with ancient wisdom and myths, and nature in its uniqueness tells stories of ancient times. The book Angel in the Neighborhood by a renowned Icelandic writer of the older generation is also somehow different from literature for young people and the environment in which we live. In short chapters of the first-person narrative (a kind of diary), we meet a boy named Askur with a rich imagination who believes in both werewolves and angels - the writer also brings Norse mythology closer to us in the book. The boy thinks about everything that surrounds him and what is in him - he is very good at observing and listening, but he says that his own thoughts sometimes scare him. He lives the fate of many children today, who are caught up in the chaotic world of adults, in which they often have difficulty finding their way. It's a good thing that angels are nearby.
